Bag Care Guide

Thoughtful care helps a bag keep its shape and finish. Always begin with the material and care information on the individual product page, then use the guidance below as a conservative routine.

A Simple Routine for Most Bags

  1. Empty the bag. Remove loose items and debris from pockets and lining.
  2. Dust gently. Use a clean, dry, soft cloth. Avoid vigorous rubbing.
  3. Spot test first. Test any approved cleaning method on a hidden area and allow it to dry before continuing.
  4. Air dry naturally. Keep the bag away from radiators, hair dryers and direct heat.
  5. Reshape for storage. Add clean, acid-free tissue or another soft, colorfast filler without overstuffing.

Leather-Look and Smooth Synthetic Finishes

Wipe light surface dust with a soft, slightly damp cloth, then dry promptly. Do not saturate the surface. Avoid alcohol, bleach, abrasive cleaners, household wipes and unapproved leather conditioners, which may alter the coating or sheen.

Suede-Look and Soft-Touch Finishes

Keep these finishes away from rain and oily products. Use a clean, dry cloth or a suitable soft brush only when the product instructions permit it. Work gently in one direction and avoid pressing a wet stain deeper into the nap.

Woven, Straw-Look and Open-Lattice Bags

Do not pull loose fibers or force small objects through an open weave. Remove dust with a soft brush and support the body during storage to reduce crushing. Keep natural-look woven surfaces dry and avoid placing them under heavy items.

Denim, Canvas and Textile Bags

Dark textiles may transfer color through friction, especially when new or damp. Keep them away from pale clothing and upholstery until you understand how the finish behaves. Do not machine wash unless the product instructions expressly allow it.

Metallic, Glossy, Pearl and Embellished Finishes

Store reflective and embellished bags separately in a soft pouch. Prevent chains, rhinestones and hardware from rubbing against the body of the bag or snagging delicate clothing. Fingerprints can be lifted gently with a clean, dry microfiber cloth.

Hardware, Zippers and Straps

Open and close hardware without forcing it. Keep cosmetics and liquids contained so they cannot leak around zippers or lining. When storing a detachable chain or strap, wrap it separately to reduce pressure marks. Do not hang a filled bag by its strap for long periods.

Protect the Shape

Carry within the capacity indicated by the bag's construction. Overfilling can strain seams, distort openings and leave handle impressions. Use our Bag Size & Fit Guide to choose a silhouette that suits what you routinely carry.

Long-Term Storage

  • Clean and fully dry the bag before storage.
  • Store it upright or in its natural position, lightly supported.
  • Use a breathable dust bag rather than an airtight plastic bag.
  • Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity.
  • Separate pale bags from dark fabrics that may transfer color.
